Mr. Carlson spent his career helping energy companies acquire and develop property. Now he is on the other side of the table, representing property owners
Evan Carlson is an experienced land rights advocate. He has negotiated oil and gas leases on behalf of oil companies, acquired right of way for Enbridge’s Sandpiper and Line 3 replacement pipelines, and most recently helped pioneer Minnesota’s Community Solar Program with Innovative Power Systems, Inc. (IPS) a Minnesota Based Solar Power Company.
As Director of Land and Legal for IPS, he helped build some of Minnesota’s first solar farms and helped them establish a predominant share of the Minnesota market. In 2017, IPS was recognized by Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal as Minnesota’s fastest growing company, principally due to his community solar developments. Since then, he has helped IPS expand into new markets and pioneered community solar programs in other states by educating landowners and local governments on the benefits of solar, and helping navigate leasing, land use, permitting, and zoning issues.
He hopes to help the Enbridge’s Landowner Choice Program be as successful for landowners as the Community Solar Program. He is proud to use his knowledge of energy property development to help landowners affected by the decommissioning of Old Line 3.
